15/3/13 Bird Report

Birds in order in which sighted on this date. Started at home in Rowhedge, thence walked via Roman River to Fingrinhoe and via Furnaux Lane to the Wick Nature Reserve and back.

Note lack of House Sparrow and Lapwing, Starling only just managed a late appearance! The Black Redstart on Rowhedge Wharf refused to appear. At the Wick NR it was high tide. Many flocks of unidentified waders passed (Dunlin/Sanderling/Knot etc), and several small groups of sea ducks/grebes were too far out to be identified. More observer skill, a telescope and a low tide (and a later move to the pub) could easily have added a dozen or more to the list.
