The first part of this list presents a single foray around Rowhedge/Donyland Wood.
This was a good day, but, oddly, the most outstanding fact was that I could not find a single Speckled Wood.

- White Letter Hairstreak (regular)
- Small Copper (common)
- Common Blue (common, much reduced)
- Holly Blue (common)
- White Admiral (regular since 2004)
- Small Tortoiseshell (common)
- Peacock (common)
- Red Admiral (common)
- Comma (common)
- Gatekeeper (common)
- Ringlet (common)
- Meadow Brown (common)
Not sighted on this day, but met with here in Rowhedge on other occasions are:
- Speckled Wood (common)
- Wall Brown (previously regular, 1 sighting in recent years)
- Small Heath (common)
- Brown Argus (returned in recent years, regular)
- Brimstone (previously scarce, recently regular)
- Orange Tip (common)
- Clouded Yellow (occasional, 2 sightings, 2004 and 2013)
- Painted Lady (common in most years)
- Green Hairstreak (regular/scarce)
- Silver Washed Fritillary (regular/scarce, since 2018)
